Many members of Escondido’s soccer community and long time residents have been disappointed as a result of being kicked-off of soccer fields. Residents are disappointed at the lack of open field availability to play pick-up soccer throughout the year. At this moment it appears that only money can buy the right to use the fields. This of course is discriminatory against Escondido’s lower-income community.

            Therefore, the residents of Escondido are petitioning for the right to use specific fields, in good condition, for pick-up soccer at all Escondido public parks. We ask for permission to use specific fields in the afternoon and after dusk throughout the year at no cost. This of course would include permission to use field lights. We ask that this also includes the right to use specific fields at Frances Ryan Park and Kit Carson Park, which belong to the City of Escondido and all of its residents.

            This initiative will not only keep teens and young adults off the streets, but it has the potential to unite the Escondido community even further, since people from all walks of life enjoy the beautiful game. Thanks a lot and we ask that our requests be heard.
