Help the Muller Family Stay in Australia
Meet Johan and Nadia Muller, parents of three children — Joshua (10), Leah (8), and Noah (6).
The Mullers came to Australia in early 2020 for a short holiday — just three days later, the world changed. When COVID-19 closed the borders, they were unable to return home. Like so many others, their lives were turned upside down overnight.
With international flights cancelled and repatriation flights full, they had no choice but to stay and start again from scratch. Johan, who owned a business building sports facilities in South Africa, began rebuilding his trade here through ProTen Surfaces. Nadia joined a not-for-profit organisation that feeds Sydney’s poor and homeless — work that has become her passion and calling.
Now, nearly six years later, their children have grown up in Australia. They read & write, only in English, and have completely embraced Australian life, culture, and values. They are thriving at school, active in sport, and deeply connected to their community.
All of Nadia’s immediate family — her parents, brother, sister, and their families — live in Australia, as well as Johan’s brother and his family.
When international borders reopened after two years, the Mullers had already lost everything they owned in South Africa. Returning now would mean starting over in a place where safety, stability, and opportunity are difficult to find.
Australia is the only home their children know — it’s where they feel safe, loved, and part of a community that has welcomed them as family.
Because of the way their situation unfolded during COVID, they are now on the wrong visa. They have submitted an application to the Department of Immigration asking for Ministerial Intervention with compassion. They are praying that their contribution to the community, and the deep roots they’ve established here, will be recognised.
They are asking for understanding and grace — for the chance to remain in the country they have come to love, continue serving their community, and raise their children in the place they call home.
💛 Please note: If you see a donation option after signing, it goes to Change.org to promote the petition — not to the family directly.
Signing and sharing is all they ask for. Every signature helps show support and hope for the Mullers to stay together in Australia.
