My name is Victor H. Rocha, and my life, as well as the life of my beloved daughter, is marred by terminal conditions. Our story is not rare. Thousands of people like us are battling life-threatening diseases every day, seeking any means to improve their quality of life. Access to alternative treatments in the form of medicinal plants and natural compounds should not be a privilege; it should be a right. 

Any public agency should NOT restrict any terminal patient, be it at the state, federal, or international level, from accessing natural treatments they believe could improve their quality of life. Alternative treatments, like medicinal plants or natural compounds, have proven to be beneficial for terminal patients. Hundreds of studies in several Journal of Clinical Oncology demonstrated that some natural treatments could reduce symptoms and improve the quality of life in terminal cancer patients.

The implementation of restrictions banning people from their fundamental rights, especially when their lives are at stake, goes against humanistic, ethical principles. No one should usurp the right of terminal patients to seek any promising path that could bring them relief or a more comfortable remaining lifespan.

It is unfair, illegal and against our universal right to live the best way we want and can. The current regulations for access to cannabis, psilocybin, mescaline, lichens, algae,  among thousands of other plants, clearly violates all right as humans and as citizens.

We call for our rights to be recognized and respected. We demand that the legal restrictions on accessing alternative medicinal plants and natural compounds for terminal patients be fully lifted. Honor our struggle, defend our rights, and join our fight for a choice in our treatment.
