Growing up, swing sets were a pivotal part of my childhood experience, offering boundless joy and a sanctuary for play and imagination. Children in our community deserve the same simple pleasures and opportunities for growth that so many of us had. However, regulations have restricted the installation of swing sets in our neighborhood within Fenton, MI, depriving our children of this essential childhood pastime.

Play is critical to the healthy development of a child. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, outdoor play is vital for physical, emotional, and social development. Not only does it combat childhood obesity, but it also fosters creativity, social skills, and a connection to nature. Swing sets, being one of the most iconic elements of play, encourage these developmental benefits through their ability to inspire group play and individual challenge.

The current regulations preventing swing sets in our neighborhoods fail to account for their immense benefits.
