Allow Success Center and Academic Success Students Out During Finals

The Issue

I, along with numerous other students, am participating in the Success Center and Academic Success classes at our school. We have always been committed to our studies, and we maintain good grades in all our classes. However, during the finals period, we feel restricted and somewhat left out. Unlike our peers in regular study halls, we are not allowed to leave the premises or interact freely. We believe this is an unfair system.

The importance of social interaction among students is no secret. According to the National Education Association, fostering social interaction enhances learning and contributes to overall student success (source: NEA). Moreover, by these constraints being imposed on us, it impedes the development of our social skills, which is vital for our holistic growth.

We propose that during finals, as long as the students in Success Center and Academic Success have passing grades in all classes, we should be allowed to go out, like a regular study hall. This will not only level the playing field but also increase our motivation and foster a sense of belonging among us.

In light of the above, we call upon the school administration to revise the existing policy. Let's work together in making our schooling a more inclusive, equitable, and enriching experience. Sign this petition to support us in this endeavor.
