Last year, there was nothing like the exhilaration of standing on the rail at our football games. It’s where my friends and I felt most a part of the action, where our cheers felt loudest, and where our presence, alongside those of dozens of fellow students, was most impactful. This spot wasn't just our view to the game; it was our community gathering point, our place to support and rally behind our team, and an integral part of what made attending the games so spirited and school centric.

Unfortunately, this season brought an unexpected change. Mr. Hood has informed us that we're no longer allowed to stand in the same spot. This decision came without any warning or opportunity for student input. For many, this space isn’t just a preference; it's a hallowed ground of memories and unity during our school's football season.

Not being able to stand on the rail threatens to diminish our involvement immensely. When separated from each other, the enthusiasm and camaraderie we bring to every game are at risk of being diluted. Those of us who pour our hearts into supporting our peers on the field know that being together, loudly and proudly cheering from the rail, is irreplaceable.

Let's create a solution that accommodates both safety and student spirit. We propose establishing a student section on the rail with appropriate safety measures considered and adopted. By marking a designated portion for standing students, managed with clear guidelines, we can ensure our involvement doesn’t compromise safety standards.

It's crucial for the administration to recognize the importance of student involvement in school events. Encouraging diversity in how students participate in school spirit activities, such as standing together on the rail, enhances the overall culture and engagement at football games. Our goal is to work hand in hand with Mr. Hood and other decision-makers to bring back our vibrant, united cheering section.
