Jenkins Middle School in Colorado Springs, CO, currently has a policy that prohibits students from carrying their phones during school hours. This petition seeks a revision of this rule to allow students to have their phones on them, though not necessarily in use. We are not advocating for unrestricted use of mobile devices or constant listening of music during class hours. Rather, we propose a balanced approach where these tools can be used responsibly under teacher supervision or during breaks.

This change will foster an environment that respects student autonomy while still maintaining focus on academic achievement. We believe it is important for our educational institutions like Jenkins Middle School to adapt to changing times and consider the benefits these changes could bring about.
