The Issue

My family has faced enough health and financial problems due to the hard water in Lathrop and River Islands. The water quality in this region has caused severe eczema, hair loss, and damage to appliances and plumbing systems. Many residents, like us, are plagued by the difficulties and health concerns created by this hard water.

Hard water contains high levels of minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which are known to cause skin irritations, exacerbate conditions like eczema, and lead to hair conditions such as excessive shedding and dryness. This is not just a matter of convenience; it is seriously affecting the health and well-being of our families and children.

Moreover, hard water takes a toll on infrastructure. It corrodes pipes, damages appliances like washing machines and dishwashers, and leads to inefficiencies and malfunctions. This results in costly repairs and replacements that many families in our community cannot easily afford.

Currently, regulations in Lathrop and River Islands prohibit the use of salt-based water softeners, which are widely recognized as effective solutions for hard water issues. These systems work by removing the calcium and magnesium ions that cause the hardness, thereby mitigating health problems and extending the life of plumbing and appliances.

We urge local authorities to reconsider the ban on salt-based water softeners and allow residents to choose the best solution for their water needs. This change could significantly enhance our quality of life by reducing health problems and preventing costly damage to our homes.

Your signature on this petition will help convey to decision-makers the urgent need for policy change, which prioritizes the health and financial well-being of our community. Please join us in advocating for the allowance of salt-based water softeners in Lathrop and River Islands to improve our water quality and protect our homes and families.
