Allow Responsible Exotic Animals Keepers: Help Change Davidson County Ordinance

Allow Responsible Exotic Animals Keepers: Help Change Davidson County Ordinance
The Issue
My name is Jake Grimmer, and I own both That Dead Guy LLC and Mr.Salvidorii LLC. Both businesses are geared towards education and conservation of exotic animals for keeping and research.
I would ultimately like to open up a reptarium and a museum on the property I am currently residing. I believe it would not only benefit the school system, but also the community. I help educate law enforcement and the fire department to learn how to address specific situations involving venomous snakes or dangerous exotic animals. When it comes to the school system, I would love to provide the opportunity for classes from elementary, junior high and high schools to come for a field trip to learn about what venom is used for, what to look for in snakes around the house, general knowledge about exotic reptiles, and so much more.
My mission with the Salvadorii or the Crocodile Monitor is to breed them to help with conservation to ensure we keep the wild population safe from animal poachers for the exotic animal trade and leather. I want to add to the continuation of their research to help keep them properly. By educating people on how to make or build their own customer enclosures will ensure proper animal keeping providing the best care for these animals. Education for these animals to educate people with that knowledge to prevent these animals from failing into the wrong hands leading to someone getting hurt.
Overall, my goal with all of this is education. Whether it is on the animals, the venom, husbandry, or general information. I want to dedicate myself to help educate others.
That being said, I am currently facing a problem with the county. I want to change Davidson's county ordinance to ensure myself or any one effectively allows us to keep exotic animals responsibly. This will prevent people from keeping potentially dangerous exotic animals in secret leading to harm to our community. Currently the ordinance allows for dangerous exotic animals like certain types of monkeys but doesn't allow for others like the lizard monitors and venomous snakes I own and have experience working with for over 10 years. I want for the change to reorganize the type of animals that are allowed under the following conditions being proper husbandry, micro chipping an individual animal, exotic animal liability up to 100,000 for an individual animal, for random animal control inspections, and proper county registration that the owner must pay 50 to 100 on an annual filling for each animal that individual owns.
I would like to change the ordinance to properly allow responsible keepers to continue keeping within Davidson County. The more regulations we have besides strict restrictions the better lives we can give these animals in captivity.
