My family and I are residents of Fowlerville Village, MI. We have a simple request - we want to be allowed to keep four chickens in our backyard. This isn't just about having pets; it's about sustainability and self-sufficiency. Our chickens would help feed our family, reduce food waste by consuming kitchen scraps, and control insects naturally.

Currently, the village regulations do not permit us to keep chickens. However, other communities across the country allow their residents to keep small numbers of backyard hens for these very reasons. For instance, Ann Arbor allows up to six hens per household (source: City of Ann Arbor Chicken Ordinance).

Chickens are quiet animals that cause little disturbance compared with many common pets. They also provide fresh eggs for families like ours who value knowing where their food comes from.

We believe that allowing each household in Fowlerville Village to keep up to four chickens would greatly benefit our community without causing any significant inconvenience or nuisance.
