My granddaughter is a proud member of the Raiders cheerleading squad. She and her fellow cheerleaders are passionate, talented individuals who embody the spirit and the pride of our community. However, they are currently denied the opportunity to cheer for the boys basketball team during games.

Cheerleading significantly contributes to the overall atmosphere of sporting events and is essential for boosting team morale, as well as engaging the crowd. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), cheerleaders play a significant role in promoting enthusiasm, unity, and a positive school spirit both on and off the field.

The current restriction not only limits the opportunities for the cheerleaders but also reduces the overall game experience for the basketball team and the spectators alike. It is time we reconsider such restrictions, and allow our cheerleaders to cheer for all sports teams in the school.
