Allow non-hazardous gravesite memorials year-round at Greenlawn Southwest.

Allow non-hazardous gravesite memorials year-round at Greenlawn Southwest.
The Issue
Gravesite decorations are deeply meaningful expressions of love and remembrance, and for many families they are an essential part of the grieving process. At Greenlawn Southwest, recent policy changes have caused unnecessary distress by removing these items without notice, leaving families hurt, confused, and questioning whether our grief is being respected.
Sudden policy changes and unannounced removals disrupt the healing journey of families who wish to honor our loved ones in personal and traditional ways. These memorials help the living cope with loss, reflect on cherished memories, and maintain a sense of connection. When non-hazardous decorations are removed without warning, that connection is abruptly and painfully broken.
Gravesite memorials can coexist respectfully with cemetery maintenance and care. A policy that allows non-hazardous decorations year-round, paired with advance notice before any removals or policy changes, would promote dignity, transparency, and trust. Such an approach would strengthen the relationship between cemetery management and the families it serves, while preserving the peaceful nature of the grounds.
We urge Greenlawn Southwest and Carriage Services to revise their gravesite decoration policies to honor loved ones with compassion and respect. Please sign this petition to support grieving families and encourage transparency and dignity at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
