The Issue

My grandson's future is everything to me. He has worked incredibly hard to build his dreams and aspirations within his current school in Hanahan High,Sc  only to have them abruptly taken away. The school has red-flagged him and removed him from enrollment, citing that he is now out of the jurisdictional boundary, an assertion that we contest gravely.

This unexpected decision came as a shock to our family and has completely devastated him. Educational stability is crucial for a child’s development, and my grandson is thriving academically and socially. He has built relationships with teachers and peers, participated in extracurricular activities, and set foundations for his future career paths in this enriching environment.

The notion that a postcode should decide his educational fate is unfair and disregards his hard-earned accomplishments. Many families face similar issues of bureaucratic boundaries interfering with their children's education. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, about 5.5 million students change schools annually, and each move can set a student's learning progress back by an estimated 3-6 months. Can we continue allowing geographical lines to dictate our children's destinies?

We must appeal to the school administration, the school board, and the local authorities to allow my grandson to remain where he belongs and where he can continue to thrive. It's essential for the community to stand with us in advocating against this rigid jurisdictional policy that does not account for individual circumstances and the dedication of students like him.

Please sign this petition to urge the school officials to reconsider their decision and permit my grandson to stay in his school, preserving his educational path and supporting his dreams.
