Allow "Mission: Yozakura Family" and "Undead Unluck" to Stream Worldwide on Crunchyroll

The Issue

In recent years, Disney Platform Distribution has entered the anime market. They distribute Japanese animated series around the world. However, fans who anticipate these works that Disney gains streaming rights to become dissapointed due to Disney/Hulu's lack of a consistent release schedule and marketing. Anime such as Undead Unluck and the upcoming Mission: Yozakura Family have had their success potential cut short by releasing these anime worldwide months after their initial debut with no marketing.

In the U.S., these series are available on Hulu from the day they debut. However, in other countries, not only do they to wait months to receive weekly uploads, but in the case of Undead Unluck, Disney has stopped adding episodes mid-season despite them being finished and available in Japan and the U.S. This anti-consumer neglect of intellectual property is harmful towards everyone involved from fans, the Japanese production committees, and even Disney's potential profit.

As a fan of the legendary manga magazine, Weekly Shonen Jump, responsible for many successful anime titles such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, and My Hero Academia, this neglect of works with the potential to reach greater heights is extremely frustrating. That's why, I believe it'd be in everyone's best interest to allow these Hulu Original anime that aren't Disney produced to be available world-wide on Crunchyroll too.

Crunchyroll has a reputation of being the world's most successful anime streaming service. They own the streaming rights to many successful titles, but even allow said titles to stream on Hulu and Netflix. This business model allows Crunchyroll's titles to reach even more people and allows Crunchyroll to make even more profit with merchandise sales. I believe that in the best interest of fans and the businesses involved in with U.S. controlled Hulu Original anime, Disney Platform Distribution should allow anime in question to stream on Crunchyroll and other platforms to allow more of the world to be able to watch these shows when they air in Japan.

Mission: Yozakura Family releases April 7, 2024 and Undead Unluck released it's season finale March 22, 2024. Please sign this petition to allow more people to experience these brilliant stories and more that will surely come in the future.
