The Issue

As a University of worcester student I'm calling on the University of Worcester to update its social media policy to reflect the true nature and importance of our healthcare training.
I've seen firsthand the reluctance to showcase essential medical models—specifically those of female genitals used for teaching vital skills like perineal suturing and vaginal examinations. These are not explicit or inappropriate; they are crucial, non-controversial educational tools.

Why is this important?
 * Accurate Course Representation: These models are integral to the Midwifery course. Hiding them misrepresents the comprehensive, hands-on training student midwives receive, which prepares them to be competent, confident healthcare professionals.
 * De-stigmatization and Education: Social media is a powerful platform. Sharing these models can help de-stigmatize women's bodies and health issues that are often surrounded by unnecessary taboo. It offers a crucial opportunity to educate the public and normalize discussions about essential medical procedures.
 * Commitment to Transparency: By featuring all course-related models, the University would demonstrate its commitment to transparency and robust healthcare training, showing support for future midwives and advancing public understanding.

Let's encourage the University of Worcester to lead with openness and education. Permitting the display of these models is a vital step toward a more educated public and a more progressive approach to women's healthcare education.

Join me in urging the University to allow the accurate representation of our essential midwifery training and to help break down the stigma surrounding women's health.
