I am deeply bonded with my feathered friends, my chickens and ducks, who have been a part of my life for over 8 years now. Due to my severe allergies to fur, I cannot have common pets like cats or dogs. However, I have found comfort and companionship in my chickens and ducks, whom I have raised since they were little chicks and ducklings. They are not just animals to me; they are part of my family.

These beloved creatures are more than pets; they are my best friends. I have saved some of them from becoming prey to predators like hawks, owls, and eagles. Every one of them has a name, comes when called, and lives a spoiled life filled with love. I am committed to their well-being; they enjoy weekly baths, stay mite-free, and help keep pests down by eating bugs, ticks, fleas, and flies.

Unfortunately, local regulations may not allow me to keep them, and that is why I am reaching out to you. I want to advocate for the importance of allowing children like me, who have special connections with less common pets, to maintain these bonds without fear of being forced to give them up. This isn’t just about keeping my pets, but about recognizing the diverse needs and circumstances of residents in Putnam County.

I am asking for your support in helping to change any restrictive laws or regulations in Putnam County regarding the keeping of poultry as pets.
