This petition is not just about a house; it's about a home which holds every memory, every milestone, and every heartbeat of our family's journey. For the past several years, this property in Nerang has been a sanctuary for me and my children, a place where we feel loved, protected, and whole.

Please Allow Me and My Children to Remain in Our Family Home

I am asking for the community’s support to urge the Queensland Department of Housing to allow me and my two children to remain in my late mother’s government housing property.

This house is not simply a government property to our family — it has been our family home for decades, and we are the only family who has ever lived here.

I moved back into the home to care for my mother when she became extremely unwell, particularly after the devastating murder of my brother in May 2025. Our family was already living through unimaginable grief and trauma, and my mother’s health deteriorated significantly during this time. I returned home so that I could support and care for her while also raising my two children.

Sadly, my mother passed away on August 10th 2026, my late brothers birthday.

Instead of being given the opportunity to grieve, stabilise my children and discuss a reasonable pathway forward, I have been told by the Department of Housing that my children and I must leave the property by this Friday, 21st of August. 

We currently have nowhere else to go.

I am not asking for special treatment or ownership of the property. I am asking Housing to consider the exceptional circumstances of our family and allow me the opportunity to have the tenancy transferred or properly assessed in my name.

My children have already experienced significant loss and upheaval. Forcing us from the only family home we have known, immediately following the death of their grandmother and not long after the murder of their uncle, would cause even further instability and trauma.

I am willing to comply with Housing requirements, provide information about my income and circumstances, pay the appropriate rent, and complete any application or assessment required to establish the tenancy in my own name. 

I have made contact with local members and the minster of housing for further assistance. I request the community I grew up in to please help me, I have nothing left. Please sign and help me save my home and my family.
