The Issue

Marcus is my best friend, and he's one of the most hardworking, caring people I know. Over the four years we spent at Eaglecrest High School, Marcus consistently demonstrated qualities of perseverance and integrity. Now, as we approach graduation, he faces the disappointment of being excluded from walking at the ceremony because of one mistake. This choice undermines the four years of dedication and effort he has put in, and it's simply not fair for a single mistake to overshadow his entire high school career.

Throughout his time at Eaglecrest, Marcus has gone above and beyond in contributing positively to the school environment. He has participated in various community service projects, supported his peers, and strived to create a welcoming space for everyone. Despite this, he is now being punished in a way that feels disproportionate to his overall conduct and positive contributions. Importantly, after graduation, Marcus is committed to serving our country as he joins the military and prepares for boot camp. This graduation ceremony is not just a milestone for him; it marks the beginning of his new journey in the armed forces.

Graduation is a significant moment for students, as it celebrates their accomplishments, hard work, and transition into the next stage of their lives. By excluding Marcus from this ceremony, we fail to acknowledge his achievements and deny him the opportunity to enjoy his last celebratory moment with friends and family before embarking on a challenging path in the military.

I urge the Eaglecrest High School administration to reevaluate their decision and allow Marcus to walk at his graduation. This small act of kindness can have a profound impact, honoring Marcus's efforts over the years and sending him off with the dignity and respect he deserves, acknowledging his service to our community in the future.

Please sign this petition to show your support for Marcus and to appeal to the school administration for his inclusion in our graduation ceremony.
