Allow Long-Term Immigrants in the UK to Vote in General Elections

Allow Long-Term Immigrants in the UK to Vote in General Elections
The Issue
I have lived in the UK since 2005 and I'm 22 now. I believe that having lived here continuously for such a long time, I should be able to vote on what my future looks like. Currently, immigrants like me can vote in local elections but not in general elections, and I disagree with this.
We all live here and contribute to society; we should have a say in national decisions that affect our lives. According to Migration Observatory at Oxford University, around 3 million EU citizens reside in the UK (as of 2020). Many of us have built our lives here over many years. It’s only fair that we are given the right to participate fully in shaping the policies and leadership of this country.
Please sign this petition if you believe long-term immigrants deserve a voice in general elections!
