We, the undersigned, support allowing licensed barbers in Florida to legally perform eyebrow tinting services under barber licensure regulations.

 

Eyebrow tinting is a basic grooming service that aligns closely with services barbers already provide, including beard coloring, hair coloring, eyebrow shaping, and facial grooming. Licensed barbers are trained in sanitation, safety, client care, infection control, and cosmetic application techniques that directly apply to eyebrow tinting procedures.

 

My name is Kay, and I am currently attending barber school in Florida. As a future licensed barber and as a woman entering this industry, I see firsthand how modern and versatile barbering has become. Clients are already seeking barbers for complete grooming services, and eyebrow tinting is a natural extension of that demand.

 

Currently, Florida restrictions prevent barbers from offering eyebrow tinting unless they obtain additional cosmetology or esthetician licensing. These limitations create unnecessary barriers for skilled professionals, reduce income opportunities for barbers, and limit convenient grooming options for clients.

 

We believe licensed barbers should be permitted to perform eyebrow tinting because:

 

Barbers are already trained in facial grooming and hair coloring services

Barbers receive sanitation and safety training relevant to cosmetic procedures

Eyebrow tinting is a low-risk, non-invasive grooming service

Expanding services increases income opportunities for licensed professionals

As the barbering industry continues to evolve, Florida’s licensing laws should evolve with it. Allowing eyebrow tinting under the barber scope of practice would support professionals, improve client access, and strengthen the industry while maintaining public safety.

 

We respectfully ask Florida lawmakers and the barber board to update barber licensing regulations to include eyebrow tinting within the scope of practice for licensed barbers.
