Joey made the conscientious and brave decision to support Impossible Foods, which uses plant-based ingredients that help people maintain healthy diets and reduce the environmental impact caused by animal-based foods. For this, he was banned from competition in the most prestigious of competitive eating events, Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

We are calling for a ban of Smithfield Foods, the owner of Nathan's Hotdogs, until Joey is allowed to return to the Nathan's stage to defend his Mustard Belt. Smithfield needs to acknowledge that plant-based proteins in the shape of a wiener should not be seen as competition to their beef hot dogs (with less than 2% of hydrolyzed corn proteins) and allow Joey to participate in the competition - serving him plant-based substitutes, if he chooses.
