Allow in-district staff to lead school musicals

Allow in-district staff to lead school musicals
The Issue
In our school district, theater programs are limited, making school musicals one of the few opportunities for our students to engage in the performing arts. These programs are crucial for nurturing creativity, building confidence, and fostering a sense of community among students. Unfortunately, there's an obstacle preventing these valuable opportunities from taking place.
Currently, in our district, there is a shortage of outside staff available to lead school musicals. This shortage threatens the continuation of these cherished programs and potentially deprives our students of the chance to participate in theater. At the same time, we have dedicated and willing in-district staff members who are eager and qualified to take on the role of leading these musicals. However, they are being denied the opportunity due to their current positions within the district.
This policy not only limits our students' access to the arts but also overlooks the talent and commitment of our in-district educators. Allowing qualified in-district staff to lead school musicals is a practical solution that will ensure these programs continue to thrive. It will provide stability for our theater programs and maintain the enthusiasm and engagement of students who have a passion for the arts.
I want to be clear that no schools musical has been cancelled. I am a student trying to get all the facts on why district staff who’ve been in the same positions for years, aren’t allowed to all be of a sudden. We love our production team at my high school and we trust that they can deliver a great experience for all of the students.
By revising this policy, we will be investing in our students' futures, encouraging their artistic growth, and enriching our community. Let's rally together to advocate for change. Sign this petition to allow in-district staff the opportunity to lead school musicals, ensuring that the tradition of theater continues in our district. Together, we can make a difference for our students and preserve the vitality of the arts in our schools.
