Allow homeschooler and individual students to subscribe Education Perfect

The Issue

Education Perfect, a nationwide learning app, was developed with the purpose of empowering students' learning.

On the 15th of November 2023, the company suddenly announced that subscriptions for homeschooling families and individual students would be discontinued after the 31st of December 2023.

Although the company claimed that this decision was in the best interest of customers, it has severely disadvantaged students in these circumstances.

Students, whether homeschooling or attending schools that don't subscribe to Education Perfect, are now deprived of educational opportunities. As stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) Article 26, all students should be given the right to education.

The article specifically states, "Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available, and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit."

This aforementioned act explicitly mentions that "Technical and professional education shall be made generally available," which means every student should have the opportunity to subscribe to Education Perfect. It should be accessible to all students.

The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) Article 13(1) also states equity and non-discrimination in education.

As a year 12 student, I used Education Perfect throughout holidays to preview next term's work. Education Perfect was beneficial in assisting my academic study. There are also many students who individually subscribe to Education Perfect to assist with their academic performance. I believe Education Perfect is highly beneficial and helpful for students who want to preview their subjects or catch up on topics they missed.

Additionally, there are also many families who are homeschooling that used Education Perfect. Parents who homeschool their children benefit greatly from the structured and syllabus-aligned curriculum designed by the company. It significantly saves time for those parents and helps their children access quality academic materials.

I strongly believe that all students should have an equal opportunity when accessing such educational resources. Therefore, I am here to advocate for myself and countless other students who will be affected by this decision to have access to this learning material.
