Allow Helene Fuld students a fair retake policy

Allow Helene Fuld students a fair retake policy
The Issue
My name is Sarah Michel and I am a dedicated nursing student in the Nursing 231 course at Helene Fuld College of Nursing. Like many of my fellow students in the Sunday Jacobi Group, I have made countless sacrifices to ensure my success in this program. From paying tolls and parking fees to attend clinicals miles away from my home, to giving up precious time with family to participate in hospital trainings, our commitment is unwavering. Yet, despite our efforts, our entire group faces the risk of failing the course without a fair chance to improve our grades.
This situation is not only demoralizing but also places an unfair burden on students who have consistently shown dedication and determination. Failing a course should never be the default solution when a group of students has demonstrated a commitment to learning and improving.
We are asking Helene Fuld College of Nursing to implement a more compassionate retake policy that acknowledges our hard work and dedication. By allowing students who have failed a specific section of Nursing 231 to retake it rather than being forced to repeat the entire course, the college would not only be recognizing the efforts of its students but also aligning with best educational practices that focus on student growth and development.
Current statistics in educational research underline the benefits of flexible retake policies in reducing student dropout rates and encouraging academic persistence. Students who have a chance to learn from their mistakes and rectify them are more likely to succeed in their academic and professional futures.
Helene Fuld has the opportunity to lead by example, showcasing a commitment to student success through policies that are fair and supportive. We urge the administration to review their current policies and consider implementing a retake option specifically for students who have faced challenges in individual sections of their courses.
By signing this petition, you support a fair and reasonable solution that benefits not only the Nursing 231 students but enriches the educational environment as a whole. Please help us advocate for a policy change that reflects the values of dedication, perseverance, and fairness. Sign this petition to show your support for a more student-centered approach to education at Helene Fuld College.
