Allow food trucks in Inverness city limits

Allow food trucks in Inverness city limits
The Issue
*Join the Movement to Support Local Food Truck Vendors in Inverness!*
As a concerned member of the Inverness community, I urge you to stand with me in advocating for fair treatment of local food truck vendors. Despite being a valuable part of our community, these small businesses face unfair restrictions and threats from the city's code enforcement department.
*The Issue:*
- Unfair zoning laws and permit requirements
- Exorbitant application fees ($750) with no guarantee of approval
- Threats of fines to local businesses that support food truck vendors
*The Impact:*
- Harm to local businesses and the community they serve
- Loss of charm and character in our downtown area
- Unfair advantage to big corporations over small, local operations
*Take Action:*
1. *Sign the Petition:* Demand fair treatment and revised zoning laws that support local food truck vendors.
2. *Attend the Next City Council Meeting:* Show your support and voice your concerns to city officials.
3. *Share Your Story:* Post on social media using #SupportInvernessVendors and share how local food truck vendors have positively impacted your life.
Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our community continues to thrive with the help of our local food truck vendors!
Make this a call to action
I value my relationship with our local city parks and recs department but I do think it’s unfair that certain departments in the city make it unfair for food trucks to be in city limits here in Inverness
Specifically “code enforcement”
They say they are doing this to protect local businesses but in fact it’s these same local businesses that want our services
From the hospital to nursing homes and much more
You see as a food truck they can’t do much to us as we are state regulated and the state law says local government can’t dictate where we set up aslong as it’s not on government owned land
So since they can’t do much to us they have threatened the places that allow us to visit with fines
They say they can apply for a permit for a food truck but then also say no where in city limits is zoned for it
So pretty much you pay them 750$ for an application and that they wont say yes to
A lot of my fellow vendors are scared to speak up because they don’t want to be blackballed by the city
I’m not scared of bullies I’m a legal business I pay taxes and I give back to my community constantly
These big name companies come in and don’t give back
It’s time to support mom and pop operations more than ever
You see a lot of vendors make the downtown experience what it is
From market at the depot to the movie nights and all the live events at the park and downtown
What is our small town with us small town vendors that give this place charm?
The next time you get your kids face painted or you buy a bag of popcorn with some lemonade
Think about that vendor and what your experience would be like without them
We must make a change
