The Issue

Every day, countless employees and customers in our town face the constant stress of receiving parking tickets simply for parking in front of businesses for over 75 minutes. This has become more than just a minor inconvenience; it feels like harassment. Employees, who are just trying to earn a living, are forced to pay unaffordable fines daily, while customers, especially patients, are discouraged from visiting local businesses due to the risk of receiving hefty tickets.

These parking restrictions are not just causing financial strain on employees but are severely impacting local businesses. Patients who need to visit for medical appointments, many of whom require more than 75 minutes, are unable to park nearby without the fear of being ticketed. This has led to a noticeable decrease in business as customers choose to avoid the hassle altogether.

The solution is simple and practical: amend the parking regulations to allow for longer parking durations in front of businesses. This adjustment will not only alleviate the financial burdens on workers but will also restore the convenience for customers, thus supporting local businesses.

We urge the local council to recognize the adverse effects of the current parking laws and take immediate action to extend the allowable parking time in front of businesses. By doing so, they will aid in revitalizing our local economy, support employees and ensure customers feel welcome to shop and attend to their errands without the looming threat of a parking ticket.

Please sign this petition to demand a change to the local parking policies and support our community's businesses and workforce.
