To all struggling small businesses ( self-employed) , I have been unable to submit my tax return on the 23rd of April 2020 due to unprecedented circumstances and was able to do so two days post deadline , unfortunately like me and many others who missed the deadline this has deemed us ineligible for any of the Self-employed support schemes grants  that we missed out on applying for two so far however, now the government introduced an extended grant which I and many will also be not eligible for due to submitting taxes late  .

I believe the government should be forgiving & understanding to those who submitted slightly past the deadline in April no later than a few days or weeks prior to the first grant deadline , to be given another chance to apply for the grants as it would have a massive difference to the current difficulties small businesses are facing .

There are exceptional circumstances that many faced during January-April 2020 which has prevented them from submitting tax returns on time and the government should give us all the chance to apply for the upcoming support schemes as it’s unfair considering how many of those grants ended up in the wrong hands during the summer of 2020 , when it could have gone to hard working eligible small businesses traders.
