The Issue

Patricia Blanco Animal Foundation is a US non-profit organization dedicated to the wellbeing of animals since 2013.
While we recognize that animals need help worldwide, it’s heartbreaking to see that in countries like the Dominican Republic and many other countries the hope for animals almost nonexistent.          We've witnessed the challenging reality that international adoptions are often the only effective solution for giving these rescued dogs a chance at a better life. Unfortunately, current airline rules and regulations do not accommodate the transport of dogs in the cargo hold even when owners or organizations comply with all CDC rules and regulations, a situation which severely restricts opportunities for these animals.

Airlines' refusal to allow dogs in cargo is not only inconvenient for international travelers who are loving pet owners but also restricts the life-saving work performed by organizations like ours involved in animal rescue. It is imperative that airlines reconsider this policy to support animal welfare initiatives and the needs of pet owners.

We understand that overbreeding and abandonment are the main causes of animal overpopulation. As animal welfare organizations, we are working hard to fight this problem by spaying and neutering, educating the community, rescuing animals, and placing them in loving, responsible forever homes. But we can’t do it alone—we need your help to continue our mission and protect the wellbeing of animals.

Pet-friendly policies that permit the transportation of dogs in cargo will greatly enhance the ability of rescue operations to relocate animals to loving homes abroad. Additionally, it enables pet owners who must travel frequently to remain with their furry companions, fostering a stronger bond and promoting animal welfare.

We call on airlines like American Airlines, United, Delta and many others to revisit and revise their policies to facilitate the safe transportation of dogs in cargo, adhering to CDC guidelines

By taking this step, airlines can play a crucial role in animal rescue efforts and support thousands of families who rely on their service to keep their pets by their side.

Please sign this petition to urge airlines to change their rules and regulations to allow the transportation of dogs in hold or cargo, thereby supporting animal welfare and enabling individuals and organizations like mine to continue our vital work.
