The Issue

Citizens of Bagley, MN deserve the opportunity and freedom to have chickens on their residential properties within city limits. Reasonable accommodations should be made by Bagley City Council to provide guidelines that allow citizens to keep a flock of up to four hens in their yard with proper shelter and enclosures.

Chickens are an incredibly useful animal that can provide families with a source of protein by laying eggs or being raised to butcher. Chickens can eat pests such as ticks, slugs, and other insects harmful to people, pets, and gardens. Hens are very quiet when kept happy and would cause no more noise than local wild birds. Chickens waste can be used as compost in gardens, and the smell is minimal when kept up after similarly to dogs. Keeping chickens has also proven to help with supporting the mental health of their keepers.

Sign this petition to let Bagley city leaders know you support the responsible keeping of chickens in Bagley residential areas. Let them know you support self sufficiency. Let them know you support the freedom to keep animals on your property that you can properly care for. Let leaders know we deserve the right to grow our own food sources!
