This inequity in political representation restricts our region's growth, muffles our voices, and doesn't address the unique issues we face here in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are determined to change this and secure a brighter future for our community.

The discrepancy in voting power between Northern Virginia and Southwest Virginia, particularly Bristol, has hampered our ability to influence statewide decisions that affect our daily lives. Northern Virginia, with its considerable population and wealth, often shapes policy decisions that do not necessarily meet the needs of more rural and economically distressed areas like ours. As a result, we find our local concerns, such as job creation, healthcare, education, and infrastructure development, consistently placed on the backburner.

This unbalanced representation means that the unique challenges Bristol faces, such as revitalizing our local economy and improving public services, are not addressed effectively. By seceding from Virginia, we can forge a path that truly reflects and prioritizes the needs and aspirations of our community.

Secession would allow Bristol to directly control its destiny, aligning priorities and resources to benefit local citizens directly. This move would empower residents and local governments to make decisions that cater specifically to their communities rather than conform to policies that predominantly benefit Northern Virginia.
