I live in Sycamore township in Cincinnati, which does not allow its residents to keep backyard chickens. Backyards chickens can provide educational opportunities for my children, teaching them responsibility and the importance of sustainable living, as well as exposing them to new ways of healthy eating and understanding where our food comes from. Many neighborhoods across Cincinnati, including Amberley Village and Pleasant Ridge, already allow residents to keep backyard chickens with great success. By changing our local zoning resolution to permit backyard chickens, we can benefit from these learning opportunities.
