The community of Shelby County would like to PETION the Shelby County Commissioners to legalize the use of off-road vehicles on county-maintained roadways. Many adjacent counties already have laws enacted that are similar to the one being presented to the county commissioners, including surrounding counties of Hancock, Rush, Decatur and Jennings. Out of the 92 counties in Indiana Shelbyville is one of the 16 where it is still illegal.

Over 76 current counties support off-road vehicle use on public roadways.
It’s time to change the counties antiquated laws and bring us up to date with surrounding counties.
The people of Shelby county realize the inherent dangers of traversing the county roads utilizing any motorized method, but with smart measures and regulation we should be able to sensibly utilize our off-road vehicles to travel our county roads.
