Allow Aniyah Miglia to complete semester on campus
Allow Aniyah Miglia to complete semester on campus
The Issue
Imagine being a college student facing the enormous challenge of being kicked out of campus housing without any clear reason. This is the harsh reality aniyah Miglia (A.K.A “Betty”) is currently facing at Savannah State University. She lives 4-5 hours away from campus and has been given only a few days to pack up her whole life and leave, with no valid option for online classes or any form of reimbursement for the semester.
Despite the ongoing investigation, which has yet to reach any conclusions, the dean has made a premature decision that disregards her right to education and stability. Aniyahs testimony wasn’t even heard until after she received the notice stating she had to leave. yet she's being forced to abandon her studies mid-semester, with nowhere to go and no means to commute.
This situation is not just unfair—it’s unacceptable. Students deserve security and support, not uncertainty and displacement, especially when they are willing and capable to continue their education. Although this is a situation of importance, Aniyah did not deserve to be faced with this predicament. The only rule break aniyah committed was being in melvin bostic hall after hours. This is unjust punishment for such a small crime. We must urge the university to offer a more compassionate and reasonable solution.
We ask the administration to either allow aniyah to remain in campus housing until the end of the semester, provide online classes for her courses, or ensure a fair reimbursement if none of these options can be fulfilled. Every student deserves the right to complete their education without facing obstacles that can be easily prevented with understanding and flexibility.
Let’s support her in this difficult time by signing this petition to pressure the university’s administration to reconsider their decision and act in the best interest of their students. Your signature could be the catalyst for change that ensures she can continue her education without unnecessary hardships on her journey to success.
