Allow Access to Chew Playground Field for Recreational Activities

Allow Access to Chew Playground Field for Recreational Activities
The Issue
We have been playing at Chew Playground since we were toddlers. Over the years, we've faced numerous challenges, from trees growing in the pool to plant diseases. Despite these issues, we never thought about finding another park until now. Located in Philadelphia, PA. Chew Playground is a convenient and cherished space for many local families.
However, recently our access to this beloved playground's field has been restricted due to concerns about grass growth. The authorities argue that the grass needs time and space to grow - but it’s very lovely and kept in good shape - but they keep closing it! This restriction has led us to be unfairly kicked off the field multiple times.
We understand and respect the need for maintaining green spaces but believe there must be a balance between the preservation and recreational use of public parks like Chew Playground. We are not asking for unrestricted access; rather we seek reasonable usage rights so that everyone can enjoy this community asset without causing harm.
The small field currently available is inadequate for our sports activities and often leads us into conflict with younger children or newly planted trees - neither of which we wish to disturb or endanger.
We urge you all who value public spaces that foster community bonding through sports and play activities, to please support us by signing this petition. Let's remind authorities that playgrounds are meant for play!
