Allow 28 days holidays for school children

The Issue

I find myself in a challenging situation where my job demands peak during the school's holiday periods, leaving me unable to take the time off to be with my children. Consequently, I face penalties for pulling my kids out of school outside the designated holidays. This predicament is shared by many working parents who face similar constraints — the inflexibility of our current school holiday system is not aligned with the realities of modern workplaces.

This petition seeks to address the disparity between school breaks and the vacation days provided in workplaces. Just as employees are allocated 28 days of paid leave, our school-aged children should also receive a similar provision. This would grant families the flexibility to plan their holidays without the looming threat of fines and allows them to spend crucial time together.

Currently, schools insert 'inset days' which are often disruptive and add unnecessary childcare costs, creating additional stress for parents who are already juggling work and family responsibilities. Moreover, these days are implemented without significant input from affected families, highlighting a need for reform in how school calendars are structured.

The amendment of school holiday policies could alleviate financial burdens, reduce the stress of planning family time, and ultimately foster a more supportive environment for both learning and work.

Please sign this petition to urge educational authorities to align school holiday policies more closely with workplace vacation allowances. Through collective advocacy, we can push for changes that support both working parents and their children's best interests.
