The absence of a mosque in Livingston forces residents to travel considerable distances to practice their faith and participate in communal activities. This petition calls for the allocation of land to develop a mosque in Livingston, providing a vital resource for the spiritual and social needs of the Muslim community.

Currently, the Muslim population in Calgary is among the fastest-growing religious groups in Canada. According to Statistics Canada, the Muslim community in Calgary increased by over 50% between 2001 and 2021. This growth trajectory underscores the urgent need for additional religious and community facilities to accommodate the expanding population while promoting diversity and cultural understanding.

A centrally located mosque in Livingston would serve not only as a place of worship but also as a hub for educational programs, charitable activities, and inter-faith dialogues, strengthening community bonds and fostering inclusivity. The provision of such a facility would enhance the quality of life for thousands of families, encouraging cultural exchange while ensuring that religious practices can be performed in a dignified and respectful setting.

We propose that the City of Calgary, in collaboration with community leaders and stakeholders, identify and allocate an appropriate piece of land for this purpose.
