Allocate a Dedicated Humane Officer to Address Animal Abuse in Venango County

The Issue

We at Venango County Kitty Committee are heartbroken. Our mission has always been to Trap, Neuter, and Return (TNR) the feral and stray community cats, ensuring they can live freely while avoiding overpopulation. However, the current increase in animal abandonment and the horrific torture and killing of stray cats in the area have overwhelmed us. The above image is of a local kitten left defenseless and injured by wildlife, no animal should have to suffer this way! VCKC made sure he felt compassion as he was humanely euthanized. To young to have seen so much suffering.

There's another angle to our cause. We have been receiving an influx of messages and calls for abandoned, sick, and injured cats. Responding to these incidents takes significant time and resources, which sets back our primary mission.

What exacerbates this situation is that our small county does not have a dedicated humane officer. Instead, animal welfare calls are currently routed to the sheriff's office. And let's be honest, the sheriff's department is already stretched thin with their important jobs of keeping crime out of this area.

The situation is such that the officers can either keep our towns safe or tend to the abused animals, but not both. This is not just about animal welfare but about public safety as well.

The solution is to create a dedicated position for a humane officer for Venango County, someone equipped with the training and empathy to properly address cruelty and abuse towards our animal friends. It's a step that can help us tackle the current crisis more effectively and also ensure a safer environment for all living beings of the county.

Please energetically show your support to make Venango County a safer place for our cats and other animals. It's not just about the Kitty Committee, it's about safeguarding our community's balance and empathy. Please, sign this petition to persuade officials to create a dedicated position for a humane officer in Venango County.
