Retention of UCSF Dental Faculty (during COVID-19)

Retention of UCSF Dental Faculty (during COVID-19)
The Issue
UCSF is known to be one of premier health care institutions both nationally and globally. But due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there have been many people losing their jobs and many of our former or current UCSF dental faculty have also been laid off during this whole pandemic. These faculty have been extremely devoted, selfless, and instrumental to my dental education as well as to many others who have graduated from the dental school. Without these amazingly talented individuals, the standard of dental clinical excellence will plummet and affects the readiness of current dental students entering private practice or post-graduate residency programs. According to the new anonymous $10 million dollar donation to the UCSF School of Dentistry, one of the main tenets for using the donation funds were for “recruit and retain faculty members”. Seeing respected and devoted alumni being treated in this manner is surely to affect future support from alumni, especially if their donations aren't even being used for their intended purposes. Please help sign this petition so that students and alumni can be provided a thorough explanation as to why these senior faculty were terminated and how alumni donations are currently being used. In signing this petition, we are hoping that the administration brings back these essential senior faculty back to the school to retain and maintain the high clinical standards at UCSF.
