Honors classes are accelerated classes and they deserve to be weighted. We are doing more work faster than normal classes and going far more in depth without any added benefits. It may not be as hard as an AP or an IB class so instead of a 4.8 as an A, an honors class should earn a 4.4. More people would take the challenge and sign up for honors classes if they were rewarded with a weighted grade.
