In 2013 Adrien Jamaal Cole a former Iowa State, Creighton student and Father was arrested for sex trafficking of a minor. Cole’s attorney was able to substantiate evidence that not only did the alleged victims fabricate their ages which included photos in bars, clubs etc, the attorney was able to produce evidence of Cole’s role being far lesser than implicated. Upon discovery of the true depth of the crime being committed Cole stepped away from the operation and became gainfully employed. There were also key figures discovered in the investigation that were simply ignored by authorities. Adrien Jamaal Cole was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison. It is a must that we correct what is truly a case of racial and financial privilege. As the author of this petition on behalf of my dear friend Adrien Cole, we have to acknowledge that we now live in a society that men can also become victims. When underaged girls enter bars and clubs the male patrons become victims. We can not make black and white out of grey situations. The fact that the alleged victims lied about there ages changed the case entirely from a 5 to 40 year statute to a 10 to life. What happened to Adrien Cole is disparity.
