Petition to keep the “Rebels” as the mascot of North Caddo High School in Vivian, LA.  North Caddo High was established in the mid-50’s as a high school to accommodate surrounding smaller communities.  Many students came together, and still do, as friends, neighbors and family.  We played, prayed and stayed together during and after graduation.  Mr. Rebel was a sign of unity for our school during athletic events and otherwise.  There was and never has been any divisive attributes associated with it.  Our history is just that——OUR history; not there for a handful of folks to try and erase.  We learn from history.  It creates wonderful memories in our hearts and minds, also reminds of unpleasant times when things weren’t so good and hopefully teaches us not to repeat mistakes made.  We learn and keep going forward. Some folks today believe that by tearing down statues or changing high school mascots, they can change things.  Like I said, History is good......a tool for happiness or tools for learning and doing better from that point on, showing us how far we indeed have come!   We hereby petition to keep the “Rebels” as the mascot of North Caddo High.  Hail to thee North Caddo High! In our hearts you’ll never die!  Hail to thee we honor you, red and black our colors true!  Alma Mater lend us your hand so united we may e’re stand, fond memories ever true..... NCH we honor you!
