1SG Jimmy Akuna was the AI of the JROTC program at St. Louis high school for many years.  He fostered national pride, taught leadership skills, military skills and life skills.  1SG Akuna's tutelage has motivated cadets to better themselves, better the community and better the world.  St. Louis (and sister school) cadets have attended West Point, became officers and NCOs in the military, joined law enforcement, became teachers, business leaders and productive members of society.

We want 1SG Akuna to be forever memorialized at St. Louis School.

Thus, we propose naming the JROTC battalion in his honor.  The 1SG Jimmy Akuna JROTC Battalion.  "Akuna's Crusaders."
