The Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce and their board of directors has decided to change the name of Holland Happening to Spring Festival.  They believe that by rebranding our annual festival, they are making it more inclusive however, by doing so they sacrifice part of the identity and character of Oak Harbor.  

Holland Happening was created to celebrate Whidbey Island, the town of Oak Harbor and the Dutch Heritage that built this town.  The Holland Happening event and festivities are held as tradition and a reminder celebrating the people who built this town and must be preserved.  

We, the people of Whidbey Island ask the Chamber of Commerce to cancel their plans to rebrand this event and focus on preserving as much of what makes our community unique, our history and tradition.
