The Issue

Across the United States, predators continue to sexually exploit, traffic, groom, abuse, and manipulate children and vulnerable people.

But predators rarely operate alone.

Too often, they are enabled by individuals, institutions, and systems that fail to act.

Sometimes warning signs are ignored.

Sometimes reports are delayed.

Sometimes complaints are minimized, buried, or quietly handled “internally.”

Sometimes those in power choose reputation, money, politics, liability protection, or institutional image over truth and accountability.

These failures occur in every corner of society:

Families
Schools
Religious institutions
Youth programs
Sports organizations
Foster care systems
Healthcare settings
Workplaces
Online platforms
Local, state, tribal, and federal institutions
The issue is bigger than individual predators.

The deeper issue is the systemic failure to prevent abuse, respond rapidly, protect victims, and hold enablers accountable.

Predators look for vulnerability.

They look for silence.

They look for systems with weak oversight, poor reporting, and limited consequences.

When institutions fail to act decisively, predators gain time, access, and power.

Victims often carry lifelong consequences:

Trauma
Anxiety
Depression
Shame
Isolation
Broken trust
Difficulty forming safe relationships
Many survivors never report abuse at all because they fear disbelief, retaliation, humiliation, or being ignored.

This is not merely a criminal justice issue.

It is a public safety issue.
A child protection issue.
A public health issue.
A moral issue.

And it exists at every level of American society.

No lawmaking, rulemaking, oversight, licensing, regulatory, or enforcement body should be exempt from responsibility.

If you have the power to protect, you have the responsibility to act.

The United States must move toward a culture where:

Children are believed and protected
Warning signs are taken seriously
Reporting happens immediately
Enablers face consequences
No institution is above accountability
Predators depend on secrecy.

Enablers depend on silence.

Both must end.
