Teresa Eilers started this petition to Alhambra City Council

On Tuesday, November 12th at 7pm Alhambra City Council will vote on whether to decide to support renters in Alhambra or not. Please attend this council meeting. We need to show Alhambra City Council members that residents in Alhambra support tenants’ rights!

After the state of California voted to support state-wide rent control (capping rent increases to about 8% per year), rental management companies have been evicting residents without cause or raising rents as high as 50%. These notices have been happening throughout the state and many renters are getting eviction notices that land on Christmas.

This is a clear attempt by corporate management companies to squeeze as much profit out of tenants while they can.

Local governments can do something to fix this situation. Alhambra City Council can pass an unjust eviction moratorium and rent freeze ordinance. The cities of Los Angeles and Pasadena have already voted to support this type of legislation. Alhambra should do the same!

Evictions and rent increases will only hurt our community and will increase homelessness. Please sign this petition.

If you or you know someone who has been affected by a recent eviction or rent increase in Alhambra, please contact: slin@housingrightscenter.org | (800)-477-5977 or go in-person to the Housing Rights Center Walk-In Clinic at the Alhambra Civic Center Library, 101 S. First St. Alhambra on Fridays from 2:00-5:00pm
