We have suffered too much human rights violations by the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in the past months. The Nigerian Constitution guaranteed our freedom from torture, inhumane or degrading treatment but the VGN without considering all these harass and persecute innocent citizens on the streets in broad daylight. 

The VGN was not created by any Act of the National Assembly or any law of any state (Gombe Inclusive). Therefore, the mandate, aims and objectives of the said group is unclear to citizens as every conduct of theirs either violates our human rights or it does not contribute, even with an inch to public peace, public order, public morality and the wellbeing of the society.

Most especially, the recruitment processes of the Group are faulty. It is a fact that the vigilantes hardly acquire formal education to the level of Secondary School. The group only gathered illiterates who in most circumstances are vagabonds, school drop outs, drug addicts and past criminals.

They have done good but for now, they are violating our human rights and the Government was silent.

Enough is Enough!

We demand the Dissolution and banning of the VGN in Gombe State.
