Families risk their lives every day crossing the border, in hope of a better future. They are afraid of staying in their countries due to the increased violence, they are warned not to step outside of their homes. These families leave their jobs, culture and memories behind for a month long journey by foot to a land of dreams and opportunity. When they cross the border, they are met with border patrols and children are separated from their parents. No one should go through that heartbreaking separation. To have officials talk to you in a language you do not understand and not knowing where your child is being taken to or when you will see them again.

This is happening everyday. Hundreds of families are being separated for weeks or even months without being granted any communication. The anguish the parents must feel not knowing how their child is being treated or if their child is sick. And children crying themselves to sleep not knowing when they will be able to hug their parents again. 

There needs to be an immediate call to action. Immigrant Families Together, is a network of Americans working on rapid unification responses. In this country, there are thousands of families that have been separated, we need to raise awareness so more families can be reunited.
