Stop the development of UTM's ACT building that will cause deforestation and habitat loss!

The Issue

Help stop the construction of the ACT building that is currently underway to be built in the northwest corner of the University of Toronto's UTM campus. The development is scheduled to be built in the forest behind residential buildings, tearing down a beautiful walking trail that is used by many residents and community members, as well as the animals that inhabit the forest. This forest is home to many animals such as chipmunks, squirrels, coyotes, owls, and the beloved white-tailed deer that UTM students and residents get the pleasure of seeing often walking in the forest and around campus. A 2011 UTM document stated they would be committed to restricting further development in the area bordered by the perimeter known as Outer circle, however, the building blueprints are encroaching on the outside of the Outer circle.  We understand that this location seems optimal to the university, however, it contradicts their earlier statement and will disturb the quiet balance between nature and current economic growth. Our goal with this petition is to halt the developmental plans of the current location for the ACT building and ask the Vice-President & Principal of UTM to find another location in the vast amount of land owned by UTM. Please save the animal's home!
