Give Recognition in Jackson Mississippi
The Issue
In 1964 Jackson, MS hired it's first black police officer, a Mr. Alex McNeil. Mr. McNeil had to be atleast 26, though whites were hired at the age of 20. Mr. McNeil pioneered black police officers in Jackson,MS and set a standard worthy of recognition. A retiree of the Jackson MS. Police Department, Mr. McNeil is currently a U.S. Federal Marshall. He, during his tenure as first black patrolman in Jackson, MS., also won titles of Mr. America, and Mr. Universe. His life in review exemplifies true strength and character in difficult and impossible times and should be honored. Imagine the things he has seen, the experiences he had, and what it must have took to endure to honorable retirement. A book is upcoming! You will be shocked, amazed, and enlightened about the horrific times in 1964 from Jackson Mississippi's "First and Finest"! As the only black patrolman in Jackson, MS during a time in our history when being black was unpopular and extremely dangerous. Jackson Mississippi need to recognize and honor Mr. Alex McNeil for his service and courageous sacrifice.
