"Why now, why us?"

These are the questions the customers of Cambridge's only Aldi are asking themselves. If current proposals stand, the Aldi on Histon Road will be closed from Sunday 3rd April and reopen in August 2016.

We demand that the Cambridge store remains open and carries out its refurbishment work, if it must, alongside normal operations.

Failing this, we demand that more appropriate compensation be given from Aldi to its customers - the paltry '£5 off a £40 shop' vouchers would not even cover the petrol to the nearest alternative stores in Ely and Bury St Edmunds.

The proposals as they stand are shocking and unacceptable - we should expect better from our nation's most beloved and trusted retailer.
